Important communication on phthalates use restriction

Dear Valued Suppliers,

In December 17th, 2018, an amendment of Annex XVII in REACH regulation restricted the use of the following phthalates in components that may have a prolong contact with human skin: bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).

This restriction will come into effect on July 7th, 2020 for Agriculture machines and Construction equipment where continuous human skin contacts of more than 10 minutes duration or intermittent contact over a period of 30 minutes per day is part of the operations.

In case the restricted substances which meet the criteria described above are present in the components or materials that you provide to CNH Industrial, starting from the day the restriction is effective, we will need your cooperation to eliminate them. Common high-risk components such as steering wheel, joystick control, seats, seat belt, arm rest etc. that meet the restriction criteria need to be free of these four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP).

You are requested to produce MDSs (Material Data Sheet) for your material and submit them into the IMDS (International Material Data system) in order for us to ensure compliance with this new REACH restriction.

The System is reachable through the web site:
